Revisiting an underappreciated Prince album: Lovesexy from 1988.
I had this gem on cassette back in the day, but haven’t listened to it in far too long. OMG it transports me! So pure and visionary
Lovesexy may not be my absolute favorite Prince album (it certainly wasn’t his most successful), but it has such an ethereal, dreamy, elevating vibe that it transports you to a pure plane of heaven as a purple-on-white spa. It’s like “If I Was Your Girlfriend” on an extended bachelorette party field trip to a surreal planet-Risa conservatory greenhouse filled with white lilies, gardenias, and lilac-colored irises. A white-petaled spa sanctuary hothouse filled with bathing pools and fecund dripping-wet moisture with a diffuse erotic ambient glow and … oils, creams, and lotions. And the invitation to fully luxuriate in all of them, all over your beautiful treasured heavenly body.
