It’s back-to-school time, marking the transition to fall. ‘Tis the season of Pumpkin Spice Lattes and everything autumnal.
I love the fall season! I can’t say I’m a big fan of the pumpkin-spice flavor or its associated scents, but I enjoy other people’s enthusiasm for the seasonal switchover from summer to autumn. I love women’s thirsty excitement when their favorite beverage is available again. Their joy is infectious; it feels like an invitation to enjoy fall aromas and harvest-season flavors I *do* like.
A great thing about flavors and scents: they’re one-size-fits-all. Your body type allows for all kinds of perfumes and flavorings. No matter what you’re size or shape, you get to smell like and taste whatever makes you happy (provided you can afford it, but budgetary limitations apply to ALL perfumes and fancy coffees). While you may not be able to put together your ideal wardrobe to suit your personality and aesthetic preferences, you can have a signature scent and beverage that is totally YOU. Your choice of lotion colors, scents and styles are unrestricted by what looks good or bad with your skin tone and figure.
LOTION is a perfect example of how you can brand your own personal atmosphere for you to enjoy smelling and for others to associate with you, AND you can even switch your scent according to the season. Sure, when it comes to face creams you may have some limitations based on your skin type and the availability of different scents your most-compatible facial moisturizer comes in, but when it comes to hand and body lotions and creams, the sky is just about the limit (unscented lotion + perfume oil = YOUR PERSONAL JAM). Bringing us to the question of the day:
Do you like to use seasonally-scented lotions, and if so, is pumpkin spice an appropriate scent to wear for fall?
I just had the opportunity to avail myself of the testers In the fancy destination-shopping grocery store the other day, and was not quite prepared to see this “Pumpkin Chiffon” hand cream:

I gave the Pumpkin Chiffon tester a sniff: it’s nice, but not at all something I want to smell like or that I want to inhale for hours and hours. Do I have a desire to shift my scent profile to mark this season? I’m not sure, but I can definitely appreciate having a different signature scent during cold weather versus hot.
Bath & Body Works is probably FULL of fall-season body lotions, sprays, and other scented products, I imagine. Yup; they’ve got a “Fall Shop” on their “New & Now” page, but I haven’t seen or been in one of those for years, so this little display actually caught me off guard.
Fall and winter are seasons of feasting, lending themselves well to foody smells. We start looking forward to bigdinners and lavish spreads in September and October. Wearing yummy food-reminiSCENT (haha) colognes may be part of the fun anticipation of bountiful holiday meals.
My favorite apple-scents do feel more appropriate and fun right now (I love my vial of Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs‘ “Hesperides”; doubtful it’s available any more but I’m sure they have other fun apple scents. For sure BPAL has lots of specially-blended foody Halloween-season perfume oils. Perhaps I can find (or create) a cider-scented lotion to join in the fun?
